Six Mindsets to Eliminate From Your Life, Part 2
Rid Yourself of Defeatist Thinking
Defeat isn’t in God’s vocabulary. He doesn’t create losers. Losers become losers for a lot of reasons, and one of the first things they do is let a losing, defeatist kind of thinking be a part of their lives. You have to be weaned from that. That type of thinking will produce a lot of agitation and inner turmoil.
If you don’t think you’re ever going to get promoted, if you’re always worried about whether or not you’re going to have enough bread to put on the table, or if you’re concerned whether you’re going to make it in this new business venture—that means you have negative, defeatist thinking. You’re the kind of person whose glass is half empty instead of half full. That negative, defeatist thinking is not from God.
God said you are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Carnal reasoning will tell you, “You have to measure the odds.” Yes, you need to make informed choices, but that doesn’t mean your thoughts have to be dominated with failure or potential negative outcomes. You have to be weaned of negative, defeatist thinking.
Part three—and the third mindset to wean yourself from—will be posted next Thursday.
