Simplify Your Life: Become a Sower

One of the last keys to managing our money is understanding the operation of the seed principle. God gave us seed so the potential for growth and increase would be available to His children. That means the first thing we must do is correctly identify exactly what seed is.

In Mark chapter 4, Jesus gives us the parable of the sower, and in verses 13–14, He says, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables? The sower sows the word” (NKJV). Later in verse twenty, Jesus mentions the fruit or the increase that comes from the seed sown. In these passages, God is saying at least two things. God doesn’t want you to be stressed about money. That’s why He has taken time in His Word to lay out keys to managing your money properly. As I said in my last blog post, the first thing He wants you to do is diligently and consistently labor at that which is good to generate an income. The next step is to honor God with your tithe. The word tithe literally means one-tenth and it refers to the first fruits of your increase. Simply put, the tithe is the first tenth of your increase or the first ten percent of the income you generate.

I don’t want you to look at this solely legalistically. You need to first understand the principle of the tithe. God established a distinction between His sovereignty and man’s stewardship on this earth. He has given us everything that pertains unto life and godliness, but the tithe is the one thing we are commanded not to touch because it belongs to the Lord. Read More…

Simplify Your Life: Manage Your Money God’s Way

God has entrusted every person with three primary resources—time, money, and relationships. How we manage these resources determines not only our quality of living, but also whether or not we fulfill God’s highest plan for our lives. We’ve recently talked about managing our time, so I’d now like to focus on managing our material resource, which is better known as money. Read More…
